Prepared for breakfast, a light lunch, an evening meal, or even supper. Oatcakes can be eaten as part of any meal.
I recently visited a Tea Rooms in Buxton, they prepare there oatcakes with mushrooms and sage derby cheese, it has become a firm favourite and a popular choice from the menu. They were also serving french toast, this gave me an idea….. french Oatcakes! So the next morning I mixed a raw egg up with some sugar and cinnamon, dipped the oatcake into the mix and fried it off, in a lightly oiled pan. Drizzled some syrup over it and voila, a sweet breakfast treat.
